Plant People

Disciples2

If your vision is for a year, plant wheat.
If your vision is for ten years, plant trees.
If your vision is for a lifetime, plant people.

~ Chinese Proverb

“Plant people.”

I don’t know if I need to say anything else!

You can’t possibly change the world on your own. You have to grow disciples. You have to give away a lot of the things on the “to do” list for reaching your vision. You have to give up control and let go. And while you’re letting go you have to be about the work of spreading the message.

You have to spread the word tirelessly, persistently, without wavering or faltering. You have to weather all of the storms, all of the slings and arrows.

To succeed, you have to plant people.

If your goal is for a year, make a resolution

If your goal is for five years, make a plan

If you goal will change the world, share your vision.

If you have a world changing vision, plant people.

Remember, your vision will change the world!

Planting a Tree

Pop Quiz: When is the best time to plant a tree?

sprout

Answer: 20 years ago.

What’s the second best time? Now.

~ Chinese Proverb

Your vision is like a tree. When was the best time to embark on your vision? 20 years ago. What’s the second best time? Now.

To be even more specific, your vision is like a bamboo tree. When you plant the seed, you have to water and fertilize it year after year…with absolutely no sign of success. No sprout, no growth above ground…nothing. Not just for one year or two or even three. Only in the fifth year will you finally see any outward progress to your efforts!

And then it grows up to eighty feet in just six weeks!

Like the bamboo tree, your vision will be planted, watered and fed. And like the bamboo it will grow and grow beneath the surface, creating a substantial root system to sustain the vision. Your vision will grow in people’s hearts and souls, possibly for years before you see the fruits of your labor. But then when your vision sprouts above ground for all to see its growth will leap forward.

Plant your vision now!

And don’t despair if you can’t see the progress the seed of your vision is making…trust that it’s growing, creating a root system of believers.

Remember, your vision planted today, will change the world in the future,

Marty
